Kentucky Form 72A301

This article explains what Form 72A301 is, who needs to complete it, how to file it, and how to properly complete each section of the Motor Fuels License Bond.

Form 72A301, Motor Fuels License Bond, is a surety bond form used by businesses applying for or maintaining certain Kentucky motor fuels licenses. The bond guarantees that the licensed business will properly file required reports, pay applicable taxes, penalties, and interest, provide required information, maintain required records, and comply with motor fuels laws and regulations.

The bond creates an agreement between the business required to provide the bond, the surety company issuing the bond, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The business listed as the principal agrees to meet its tax reporting and payment obligations, while the surety company guarantees those obligations if the principal fails to comply.

Form 72A301 applies to specific motor fuels activities, including gasoline dealers, special fuels dealers, liquefied petroleum gas dealers, and motor fuels transporters. The applicant must select the applicable business activity covered by the bond.

A separate bond is required for each type of tax activity, and each bond must have its own surety bond number. New license applicants must submit the completed bond together with Form 72A300, Tax Registration Application for Motor Fuels License.
